Townsend Farmers’ Mutual has served the counties of Ontario’s South Coast for more than a century. Headquartered in Waterford, Ontario, the company was started in 1879 by farmers who found that insurance through the existing foreign-owned companies was either unavailable or unaffordable.
Townsend Farmers’ Mutual is organized somewhat similar to a co-operative: each customer is also a member, and the members actually own the company! Year after year, the company has successfully met its goal to provide reliable insurance to its members at as low a cost as possible.
