BOISE, IDย โย The Idaho Department of Insurance (DOI) announced today that Cory Fuller of Meridian, Idaho pleaded guilty and has been convicted of one count of felony insurance fraud.
In November 2019, Safeco Insurance company informed the DOI that Mr. Fuller had been terminated for cause as an insurance agent for their company. Fuller had submitted 16 applications for auto insurance policies with fabricated information that subsequently were canceled for non-payment.
An investigation by the DOIโs fraud unit determined that each policy created listed Fuller, and other relatives, as drivers. The policies had 17 high-end vehicles listed from various geographic locations in Idaho that were not owned by Fuller or the other listed drivers. Fuller had no insurable interest in these vehicles. The applications were submitted with the premium down payments to be electronically withdrawn from a frozen credit union account owned by Fuller. He received $30,943.51 in unearned commission from these fraudulent automobile policies.
The Idaho Department of Insurance revoked Fullerโs license as a resident insurance producer of Idaho in February 2021 due to these allegations.
On January 17, 2025, Fuller was given a seven-year prison sentence which was suspended in lieu of seven years of supervised probation. He was ordered to serve 100 hours community service, to be completed within 36 months and ordered to serve 24 days in Ada County Jail, with options to serve jail time subject to eligibility determined by the Sheriff. Mr. Fuller was also denied a withheld judgement and must pay court costs and restitution to Safeco ($30,707.42), and the DOI ($770).
โMisconduct by licensed agents is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the Department,โ said Director Dean Cameron. โInsurance agents are expected to conduct themselves with integrity and to abide by Idaho Insurance Code. Iโm thankful for the hard work and diligence of our Investigations Unit for following up on this case.โ
