Helena, Mont.- Former Billings insurance agent Jessica Siegel pleaded guilty in Montana’s 13th District Court to criminal insurance fraud. Siegel was ordered to pay more than $86,000 in restitution, serve a six-year deferred sentence, and complete 200 hours of community service. The prosecution of Ms. Siegel is the most recent in multiple criminal legal cases investigated and prosecuted by the Montana Commissioner of Securities and Insurance (CSI).
“Ms. Siegel was a trusted insurance professional in the Billings community. By breaching this trust, she harmed her customers and the company she worked for.” Commissioner Downing said, “Our agency will continue to prosecute criminals to protect Montanans and keep rates down.”
An experienced insurance agent in Billings, Siegel was charged with multiple counts of felony criminal insurance fraud. According to the charging documents, Siegel created numerous fake insurance applications to receive up-front commissions and advances in pay for sales to fictitious businesses. As part of the plea agreement, Siegel pleaded guilty to one count of felony insurance fraud. CSI agreed to dismiss the remaining counts.
