Des Moines – Adam Hocking, age 35, of West Des Moines, has been charged with one count each of the following: Acting as an Insurance Producer without a License (Class D Felony), Fraudulent Sales Practices – under $10,000 (Class D Felony), Theft – 2nd degree (Class D Felony), Fraudulent Practices – 2nd Degree (Class D Felony) and Forgery (Class D Felony).
The charges are the result of an investigation by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau which began in November of 2020. In criminal complaints filed by the Iowa Insurance Division’s Fraud Bureau, it is alleged Hocking actively engaged in the business of insurance after his insurance producer’s license had been revoked for a period of five years in October 2020. Additionally, it is alleged Hocking created fictitious insurance policies and forced victims to pay non-existent insurance premiums causing victims to believe they had valid insurance coverage.
On January 19, 2021, Hocking was arrested and booked into the Polk County Jail. Hocking was later released after posting a $25,000 bond. Trial will be set for a future date. No additional details will be provided at this time.
On October 5, 2020, Hocking entered into an Order and Consent to Order with the Iowa Insurance Division’s Enforcement Bureau.
On November 6, 2020, Hocking was arrested on other insurance fraud related charges.
