Department of Insurance and Financial Services Takes Enforcement Action Against Unlicensed Individual Selling Fraudulent Insurance Through Social Media
LANSING, MI — The Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services (DIFS) issued a Cease and Desist Order against Darryl Dionyus Cook of Warren, Michigan for unlicensed insurance activity. Cook violated the Insurance Code by selling, soliciting, or negotiating insurance without the proper licensure from the State.
Background
DIFS staff responded to a tip about Darryl Dionyus Cook and possible unlicensed activity. DIFS initiated an investigation and found that Cook was advertising and selling fraudulent no-fault insurance policies via the popular social media channel Facebook.
“DIFS advises consumers to only conduct business with entities that are properly licensed,” said DIFS Director Patrick McPharlin. “Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.”
