Archway Insurance acquires JLT Canada’s Halifax business and join as sub-broker partners
Archway Insurance, one of Atlantic Canada’s largest insurance brokerages, purchased JLT Canada’s Halifax Operation effective April 3, 2018. As a result of the acquisition, Archway becomes JLT’s sub-broker in the region gaining access to The JLT International Network.
“The addition of the specialized team from JLT Halifax to Archway is perfect timing,” says Archway Insurance President Gina McFetridge. “This acquisition adds significant geographical reach, scale and capability to Archway’s already very strong risk offering. The partnership with JLT combined with the in-house expertise the new Halifax team brings to Archway will enable us to more rapidly pursue new opportunities as well as enhance the services provided to existing commercial clients.”
The acquisition bolsters Archway’s expertise in both the Large Commercial and Employee Benefits specialties though the creation of two new divisions; Archway Corporate and Archway Employee Benefits & Life.
Blake Miller of JLT Canada in Halifax will assume the leadership role of VP – Corporate at Archway. Jennifer Mason- Ward will be joining the division as Senior Account Manager. This newly formed division will continue to lead the provision of high-quality client-first service supported by the local strength and reputation of Archway in the communities in which it operates.
Pam Hinam will also transfer to become Vice President, Archway Insurance – Employee Benefits & Life Division. Pam will hold responsibility for leading and managing the growth of this division with a focus on expanding the Employee Benefits, Retirement, and Life offering.
In addition,3 Archway becomes a JLT sub-broker in the region. Adding Archway’s business to JLT’s sub-broker network confirms them as a leading integrated “commercial and large corporate risk” provider in the region. With the significantly enhanced resource, scale, and geographic reach that JLT brings to bear, Archway is building on its comprehensive offering to clients.

The partnership combination will also enable JLT’s Atlantic Canada clients and those with operations in the region to access one of Atlantic Canada’s largest independent brokerages, with servicing in any one of 22 locations across Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
